Ages: any minor age girl Gender: girls Description: New Beginnings Maternity Home is a safe, secure and supervised environment for expectant teenage girls. Our facility, located in the small town of Kanab, Utah, is actually a beautifully remodeled hospital. It includes three wings with comfortable, spacious living quarters, each wing has it’s own living/day room, and an additional wing with classrooms and offices. The facility also has a large theater room for movie nights, and an adjoining recreational room. A membership to the local gym a few blocks away is also provided. Located in a secluded part of town, our facility is nestled right below the beautiful coral cliffs. Ideally, the new Kane County Hospital where medical services will be rendered is just two blocks away. Combining all this with the comfortable mild climate and beauty of southern Utah, makes this an ideal facility and location.

Activities: Recreation and Activities In addition to facility exercise, recreational, and theater rooms, young women will be accompanied by staff to a variety of local and southern Utah activities and areas of interest. Kanab is located within seventy miles of the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, and Bryce Canyon. With doctor's permission young women may be able to attend field trips to various scenic locations.

Activities planned by a staff activity's coordinator will be provided. Activities can include movies, shopping trips, eating out, picnics, pool parties, cookouts, game night, theater outings, etc. A variety of arts and crafts, including quilt making, will be available to the young women.

Deersprings Ranch

On occasion, with doctor's permission, young women may be allowed to go on overnight weekend retreats to our beautiful Deersprings Ranch Timeshare cabins, located just 40 minutes away. New Beginnings owns 20 acres interest in an association that owns 2,000 acres of recreational land including lush meadows, trout ponds and ranch buildings. The location of the ranch is ideal. It borders the Dixie National Forest and Bryce Canyon National Park. It's just 40 miles from Kanab. Although they will not be able to do some of the activities such as horseback riding, young women can still enjoy many activities in the beautiful scenic mountains as they relax and take time out from the regular routine.

Counseling: Private and group counseling will be provided on an as-need basis throughout the stay. Young women will participate in Parenting, Life skills and child birth classes. Teens are prepared for adulthood through assertiveness training, sex education, conflict resolution training, and substance abuse prevention. For those who choose adoptive services, a full range of counseling will be provided to the young women.
