LAFAYETTE,
Ind. -- A Lafayette man and his wife were arrested
on preliminary neglect charges Wednesday after his
daughter 4-year-old was found dead in their home, police
said.

Arrested In Connection With Girl's Death
A sheriff's officer found
the girl, Aiyana Gauvin, in the Lafayette home just
after 6 a.m. Wednesday after someone called 911 to say
that she had been choking, the Tippecanoe Sheriff's
Department said.
Her father, Christian
Gauvin, and her stepmother, Michelle Gauvin, were
arrested on charges of neglect of a child resulting in
death, RTV6's Eric Weisfeld reported.
An autopsy is scheduled
for Thursday.
Police said Michelle
Gauvin told them that Aiyana and two other children,
aged 12 and 9, were left at the home Wednesday morning
while she took her husband to work. When said that when
she returned, she found Aiyana unconscious, according to
police.
