On February 4, 2006, less than two months after the death of James White, less than a month
after the death of Martin Lee Anderson, Giovanni "Joey" Aletriz died at SummitQuest, the
same facility where James died in Ephrata, Pennsylvania. Joey was restrained because
counselors did not want him to wear his hoodie sweatshirt. He died later that day.

     16-years old, died on 2/4/06

Giovanni "Joey" Aletriz died two months later, also at SummitQuest. Both of their deaths were investigated
   by the
County Coroner, who, according the Lancaster County Website, is Dr. Gary Kirchner. In Joey's
   case, Dr. Kirchner ruled
Joey's death an accident, saying Joey, too, died of an enlarged heart.

However, Forensic Pathologist Dr. John Shane, was present during the autopsy. His initial report
indicates that Joey did not die of an enlarged heart, nor did he die of natural causes. Instead, he
found Joey suffered from compression of his chest, a hematoma on the side of his face from
his temple to his jaw, marks on his body consistent with that of a slug or kick, bleeding in his
shoulders, bite marks on his lips and tongue, stomach contents in his nasal cavity consistent with
being suffocated, and more. An article dated
February 9, 2006, indicated James' death was still
being investigated by the Ephrata Police Department.

A mother’s plea: “let us use the death of my son, Joey, to  start: a new beginning … no
more restraints … no more deaths … no more injuries.” by Cynthia Allen
